A woman practicing yoga 1. Let’s face it: we’re all too busy and stressed out during the week to take care of ourselves. So why not practice some simple breathing exercises everyday? This can be a great daily routine for you to reset and refresh both your mind and body.  Calming breathing exercises are one of the simplest relaxation strategies, and can effectively calm your stressed-out body and mind anywhere at any time. Sit or lay down in a quiet and safe place such as on your bed or the floor in your home. When you're stressed out, sit or lay down in a quiet and safe place such as on your bed or the floor in your home. Put one of your hands on your belly. Breathe in to slow count of three, and then breathe out. Feel your abdominal muscles rise and fall as you breathe in and out. Repeat this five times. Inhaling deeply fills your lungs, creating a sense of openness in the chest. Exhaling completely clears out this same space. By deliberately repeating these actions, you can create a feeling of calm and relaxation anywhere at any time.

2. The simple act of writing can ease stress. Start by writing down three things that are making you feel stressed. Then, write about the possibilities of what could happen, as well as how those situations might turn out after everyone has had their say. When you feel stressed, take a few minutes to write down some short notes about how you’re feeling or how your day is going. You might do this in a notebook or using an app on your phone. Or buying a journal to help you organize your thoughts can be an effective way to reduce stress. “I slow down. I stop looking at my phone, I breathe, I watch the colors of the leaves change. I can really appreciate all that’s around me.”

3. Do you create a list of things you’re grateful for? Try this: make a list of three good things that happened to you today, and write them down. Start your day by jotting down three good things that happened to you today. Then end your day by listing a few more if you can. You’ll realize that not only does it make you feel great, but it also releases endorphins – which means it’s actually good for your health. This will encourage your brain to seek out and remember positive experiences! You can have a daily ritual called the gratitude jar, Every night before going to bed, you can write down three reasons you are grateful, and put it in a jar on our kitchen table. When you wake up, you can read these reasons and remember to be grateful for what you have.

4. Have you ever heard the expression “Find your happy place?”. Finding your happy place can be one of the most effective ways to reduce stress, improve your mood, and strengthen your immune system. Find your calm. Close your eyes and imagine all the details linked to that place: the sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and tactile feelings.
